craftresumes.com review and system of discounts

Craft Resumes met me with unusually creative design and promises to prepare a stunning resume. The front page of the website is quite picturesque and performed in the colors of space, and the layout is quite modern – at least they have money to keep the site up-to-dated  I was in trouble as I sent tens of resumes and got little feedback, and I hoped they would create a more effective package to help me finally land a job.

Prices

Resume writing is $129, CV writing – $149. I was surprised to notice that the price doesn’t depend on the career level. There are also editing services available, and you can pick letters, LinkedIn or KSA and order the package you need. As I was actively searching for a job, I ordered resume, cover letter and LinkedIn and paid $227 for that; they also applied a $20 discount.

The process

Of course, everything started with payment. The next step was uploading of my old resume; I didn’t have a specific job ad as I applied for multiple vacancies, so I just let them know the names of those positions. Their services included a short interview with the writer, during which he basically asked me standard questions and it made it look like a real interview. Unfortunately, I couldn’t choose the deadline myself – I wanted my package as soon as possible. The writer was able to prepare the first draft within 4 days only, though.

Quality of support and writing

As I learned from reviews later, Resume Online Service offers ongoing contact with the writer. I didn’t have this option and hardly spoke to my writer after the interview. In case you need the customer support, they have a phone and a chat (the chat was switched off often, though). I talked to support only when I received the first draft of my package for preview and noticed that the writer didn’t reflect my latest employment properly. Luckily, the chat worked, but the operator served me quite slowly. The next day I got the updated package.

Conclusion

I was happy with my resume and less happy with a cover letter as it basically contained the same information as the resume. So, I had to update it a bit by myself. My overall impression was ok, though some disadvantages were obvious: No opportunity to choose the deadline, slow support and still I had to make my own corrections. I expected something more for that price.
